Strategy Development

Successful organizations develop a comprehensive strategy that focuses on its true priorities for the future. Time is spent getting the organization and people to work on the right things at the right time to keep the organization moving forward and profitable.

Strategy Development

There are many highly successful organizations that consistently chart a path and systematically implement it. The question is not whether it can be done, but whether the strategy focuses on what is right for the organization. Some of the critical factors that have to be aligned when developing any strategy and implementing it are:

  • PURPOSE:  Do the mission, vision and values (the ones that are lived, not the ones that are read) support the direction that is being set? What parts of the culture or the way we behave will hinder the chances of success with developing the kind of organization we want?
  • LEADERSHIP:  Providing the right type of leadership is the biggest single factor with overall organization success. Do we have the leaders with the right approach that will provide the best chances for success?
  • INTERNAL PARTNERS:  Do our people, across all areas of the organization, truly have the motivation to want to see the organization successful with the direction or do they feel it has all been said before? Is the plan meaningful to people to really want to achieve it?
  • PRIORITY AND GOAL STRUCTURE:  Do we really mean what we say? Is the plan able to be implemented? Do we organize ourselves, departments, and company structure in a way that sets clear priorities and provides the resources to be successful?
  • PROCESS ALIGNMENT:  Does what we do make sense or are there ineffective systems and processes in the way of really being able to achieve the desired plan?
  • LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT:  Will we support the plan by providing the right technical, interpersonal, and on the job skills training?
  • AVAILABILITY OF RESOURCES:  Are we making sure we will have access to the right resources (financial, people, equipment...) when they will be needed?

Raidea helps clients develop realistic, achievable strategies and improvement plans for the future. Although the time involved in developing a strategy varies for each organization, it is common to facilitate a management workshop until the team agrees on how to build the organization for the future.

Continued Support for Our Work:

“We focused on concerns with our leadership, culture, the way people are involved, the communication process, and issues that will impact future productivity. Each of the three sites and the National team received detailed assessments that we were able to use to focus our improvement initiatives both at the site level and throughout the company. Obtaining the assessment was a very valuable piece of information for us to target areas for improvement through our growth.

"They worked with each of the sites and the National team to create focused plans for improvement. The improvement plans now flow from the top level of the organization to each of the departments. They then provided SCM on-going support to ensure we were successful meeting our objectives. The process of creating business imperatives and improvement plans has helped our business remain focused, which is incredibly important as our client, Wal-Mart Canada, continues to grow in the marketplace.”

Canadian national distributor for Wal-Mart Canada

Scott has helped me define and attain the type of business I want. With Scott’s direction, I was able to more clearly identify weaknesses in my organization. Through working on the issues that we identified, I have developed a stronger and more focused organization that attains better results. We worked on creating the right systems, processes and people strategy in the business. Scott used a combination of strategy sessions, goal development, group meetings and individual meetings to bring out the ideal plan. He then helped us implement the plan.

Ian Cook, President, Cook Homes

Scott helped us to develop our business strategy for the upcoming year. Once we identified the areas for improvement and the areas of potential we developed a plan to focus on these areas. Again, Scott offered ideas and helped to guide us to create a realistic, achievable plan. The development of our team and the subsequent results would not have been possible without his leadership and enthusiasm.
