RAIDEA'S TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
Developing and Sustaining the Safe Work Environment

Although developing a safe work environment is partially about educating people about safe work practices and providing the right tools for doing their work, it is actually more about creating the right attitude and culture within the organization.

This does not mean that on a case-by-case basis all workplace incidents or accidents can be attributed to worker attitudes. However, where an active safety program with an open communication system and pro-active approach to eliminating hazards is encountered, you typically find fewer incidents and accidents. This session explores the concept that ‘One Is Too Many’. This applies to all types of occurrences that then drive the type of program, behaviours and attitudes needed to have a safe work environment.

Course Content

  • What does ‘One Is Too Many’ really mean?
  • What is Due Diligence as a Legal Concept versus the Moral Issue for providing a Safe Work Environment?
  • What leadership rewards is what gets done
  • Attitudes within safe work environments
  • The role of employee involvement
  • Communication and improvement processes in safe work environments
  • Taking the challenge to change
  • Assessing your ‘as is’ state for practicing ‘One Is Too Many’
  • Building a plan for improvement
  • When is enough, enough

Pre-Work

Participants will complete a short web-based, confidential survey prior to the session to provide added information during the delivery of the program.

Who Should Attend

This program is meant for all leaders in the organization since developing the right environment within the workplace is more than the responsibility of the Joint Health and Safety Committee or front-line leaders.

Length of Program

For the best results, this program should be delivered over two half days in order for participants to re-assess their work environment after the first session.

Presenter

Pat Evangelisto has over 20 years experience providing training and consulting to companies around their safe work program and creating safe working environments.
