Lean Leadership and the Three Pillars of Lean

Many organizations go down the path of implementing lean principles but often find that they do not realize all of the benefits they anticipated. There are four critical factors that determine whether lean principles will become ‘who you are’:

  • Developing and promoting leaders with the right attitudes and behaviours
  • Having a high degree of understanding of the three pillars of lean and how the tools of lean fit with them
  • Developing a realistic plan that is continuously being worked on and communicated during an implementation, and
  • Ensuring all levels of leaders but particularly front-line leaders have the ability to work with people through change
