RAIDEA'S TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
Kaizens: Event Planning and Execution

A Kaizen event can be defined as a rapid operational improvement in a specific work areas or ‘cell’ and involves individuals directly involved or associated with that operation.

A Kaizen event takes on a life of its own and needs to be planned for properly. Raidea provides leaders with a practical course on how to develop a Kaizen event and what to expect during its execution. Although this program can be delivered as a separate training module, it is often presented to an organization where Raidea then helps to deliver the first few events until the organization becomes used to implementing this style of improvement plan.

Course Content

  • What is a Kaizen event?
  • Objectives of a Kaizen event
  • Team-based nature of a Kaizen – people involvement principles
  • Sources of Waste – learning what and how to look for it
  • Understanding the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement
  • Gaining an understanding of current processes before changes
  • Developing the AS IS to WILL BE Model
  • Review of case examples of the AS IS and WILL BE Model
  • Reviewing the step-by-step process for an event
  • Following the time-line chart for an event
  • Planning changes based on the Action and Accountability sheet
  • Expectations of changes by the team during an event and after
  • Measuring results
  • Sustaining the Changes – 90% of the work
  • Sustaining the Changes – the role of leaders, employees, and the lean coordinator
  • Software support for managing the activities from a Kaizen event – building in further accountability

Who Should Attend

This session is meant for leaders in the organization and the lean coordinator. If Raidea is involved in the actual Kaizen event then a modified version of this session is provided to the management team about what to expect from the event and a half-day of learning will be done with the project team to go over what the event will be and they will have additional learning around doing a process review.

Length of Program

This is a one-day program that can be delivered in two half-days or one full day.

Support Services for Kaizen

Over and above the training program, Raidea provides direct consulting and implementation services for Kaizen events.
